Apparently things are still fairly frosty between herself and Conde Nast. As you will recall that CR was the editor of French Vogue until recently. I can't remember why she quit and I am not sure we were ever told. She is now working on a new book and a magazine of her own.
However, there is a rumor circulating that Conde Nast have issued reminds to top photographers that they shouldn't stray too far from their contacts. AKA - Work for Carine. Basically Mario Testino and Mert Alas have contracts which bind them to Vogue.
This has had negative ripple effects on the rest of the industry though - as smaller photographers are too scared to work for her incase they incur the wrath of Conde Nast. While Carine is well liked and generally thought to be lovely - no one wants to loose out on the big fish : Vogue. Keep in mind that Conde Nast own most larger titles of magazines as well including Glamor. You get the picture....
....sucks to be her right now! If I was her, I would tell Vogue to keep the vintage and I would go out and discover something new. I would go to colleges and harrass students into competing for the job and I would take delight in mentoring someone who could really use the exposure. That would really stick it to Anna!
