Feathers and models and rings, oh my!

I am loving these photographs which I came across on my travels tonight, the photographer is Carsten Krieger. I am loving the vivid purple feathers. Perfection. Although the model looks a bit scary above!!!!
Gorgeous

Fred Perry 1950's collection

I don't normally pay attention to Fred Perry. I think I haven't really come across it that much in my travels. But I actually stopped to have a quick gander at the new collaboration between FP and Richard Nicoll. Based on 1950's teddy girls. I have Z in mind with this collection. I think it's more her style then mine. I could be persuaded....I think....

MCQ SS11

I haven't really seen the MCQ line on any actual women.....I doesn't mean I don't like it. In fact I love it. But it's nice to see it actually worn by real women. so the MCQ website has filmed '4 ordinary London women' wearing the entire collection.
For those who are wondering what I mean by MCQ. It's the younger sister line of Alexander McQueen. The company have recently taken control over the designs again and this is the new A/W11 line designed by Sarah Burton. Hurrah!
Not only that, but they have apparently made the line cheaper as well. Which can only mean wonderful things for those of us on limited wages or not waged at all..
However, these girls have an awful whiff of model off them. For 'ordinary' women. Not only that but their apartments seem awful cool....I sense a set up. It would have been more believable if the women were not so model-esque.
The line does show some of the classic MCQ design quirks. Like the above outfit which shows some of the historical inspirations which are dotted throughout the collection.
Most of the collection can be found at Harvey Nichols at Dundrum. A great game to play: wait until the sales start. MCQ gets reduced. Fun times...

Comfy times

I need more comfy tops in my life. Seriously! This one can be found at shopbop.com. Although I would have teamed it with a skinnier jean that that. Not a fan of slightly fared jeans....not at all.....

THE INTERN DIARIES : DAY TWO : Can I photocopy my boobs yet?

THE INTERN DIARIES : DAY TWO : couldn't get much worse really....

So I walked to work this morning. After the buses didn't start until too late. I didn't really mind too much. Luckily, I like to walk and I have some epic music on my ipod.
But it ended in tears. I was nervously crossing O Connell bridge. Deep in the panics about my soon to be first day. It was too early to call anyone and waaaaay too early to be alive.
That's when I slipped. Fell over and knocked boiling hot coffee over myself. Oh yes, I was that girl. The drunk looking one who is actually sober. After giving everyone nearby driving a cheap laugh and a few onlookers heart failure! I dragged myself out of the depths of despair and laughed off my cut and burnt hand and walked on dying. Red as it's possible to be.
So stinking of coffee I headed in the door.
I had no idea a real newsroom could give you that much of a heart attack. It felt like everything came at me at once. I think I did okay given that I am a fashion journalist reporting on actual worthy topics. My nerves didnt serve me well. I normally come across quite confident, but I found myself a bit.......well, jumpy.
Thank god after 4 hours of taking calls, texts and updating twitters, blogs and websites I retired outside to drink my third coffee of the day. thank god I finished at 1 and could head home after that.....
Bed.
At least until now.

is it just me? or.....

I know everyone is loving Nicki Minaj right now. But, I have to say, I really don't get it. I am so sick of this ripped off Lady Gaga stuff at the moment. Get a new gimmick. Seriously. It's everyone right now from Kelis to Cheryl Cole.
I just don't get it. Sorry!

New Viva Glam collection announced

MAC revealed ages ago that they would be joining forces with Lady Gaga for another fantastic range of Viva Glam collection. But then it all went quiet, and we wondered if we had made it up.....but, the new collection was revealed yesterday and it's......not what I expected.....It's now a lipgloss and a lipstick. But you have to admit, when someone says Gaga, you don't think nude do you? maybe you do.....I dont know! This is a strange collection. Expected a bright pink or vivid red. Not...nude.
Beige.....really?
It will hit stores just before the Wonder Woman collection in March. Strange time to roll this out considering their money and Press strength seems to be behind the WW collection. So this seems like it's being slipped in secretly. But maybe it wont be until after WW in Ireland. I don't know. Time will tell. But in America it seems to be Gaga and then WW. Oh well.....

Finally the high street admits we are not all a size 8....

It's a good day for plus sizes! To start with, H&M has announced the launch of plus sized lines to hit the online store in a few months. It will include everything from dresses to underwear! Up to a size 24. Happy days! It's refreshing to see a high street store catering for larger sizes. Fair play! But your going to have to be quick, I'm guessing since this collection is aimed as a once off, that it's a tester before making it a line.

Also Marks and Spencers have announced the launch of their new L size bra! not sure about the details of this one. But it was mentioned in the Guardian this morning.

Happy Valentines day Penny....Aw, thanks Penny!

I went to visit my Alexa yesterday (when I say my Alexa, I don't mean it's mine, I mean its in the shop and I want it) and I was delighted to see it in red. But I'm still holding out for the red. However, there is a part of me that likes the red. More then likely because it's valentines day soon and I think this is my perfect gift to myself.....ah the joys of self gifting!

Kimono style!

I am loving the selections of kimonos from Topshop. But this is the best one so far. Bird prints. It's easy to wear. Throw it over jeans, a dress, anything! They can be a bit expensive though, at €65! But I love the idea of wearing skinny jeans with it.
A close up of the bird print. What is it with bird prints and Topshop?!?!?!??!!

All the small things....

I've been lusting over apartment stuff lately. Since my travelling doesn't seem to be coming to an end! I have dreams of comfortable bedding, home cooked meals, cooking in my own kitchen, curled up watching shite tv on my own couch and drinking tea with friends in mugs I own. But it's going to be another 4 months before i can FINALLY settle down somewhere!
I can't wait. You underestimate what it feels like to have your own home and feel safe and secure. Travelling has definetly stressed me out. But when I have my masters in my hand - it will be worth it. Every last cent I've spent on travel....all of it
Hopefully I wont be alone when I settle in somewhere, but I more then likely will be! Oh well....but you know what, is that such a crime? My house, My say, My way!

Bird Hooks
Bird bedding : god, how I would kill to fall asleep in this....
Ruffle curtains : also comes in pink
Oh god, I miss an apartment! One to call my own......To fill with ruffles and frills, etc!

THE INTERN DIARIES : Day one : Doodling stars on timetables

DAY 1 : Intern style

So I got up this morning at six. Smoking a fag while hanging over the bars in the apartment is soooo not a good look! I had under an hour to pack a bag, wash my bird nest hair and get dressed - and by dressed I mean, dressed.
I made the bus and then made my connecting bus. Luckily. It was close. Using the time wisely I decided to check over notes, application forms, finish my book and also re apply my lipstick. A lot.
Once there I five minutes to grab a sign with my name on it so the production team could find me. All I had was a shitty black biro and an old email. Five minutes later I had already been mocked for my shitty sign making skills. By one of the band. Nice! Thats 4 years of art school for you. Can't even make a sign. Money well spent.....Mind you, I did learn how to drink shots handsfree....
The meeting lasted for over an hour. During which I spent my time doodling stars on my schedule and writing a list of food that needed to be picked up - by me. Which dawned on me after I stopped writing what we needed. Oh yeah, I'm supposed to be the fool running to get all this Monday before going to the set.
Ooops. Luckily I manage to piece together a quick list and get the morning off. Oh I got skills!
Afterwards I headed home to start the first of a series of articles I am writing and to experience some noodles from this new noodle bar I found. Very exciting and given that I have a full week ahead of me, this could be very tiring.
