Bits and bobs : drunk blogger

Don't get drunk and blog. A lesson I take very seriously! This is my attempt to stop it. By taking photos while drunk and not blogging. So step inside the mysterious world of me. Drunk.
Necklace - Topshop
Me and Z vogue-ing. Two bottles in. Why!!!!!
Me and what I can only imagine is my 'sexy' face. In reality I just look like I'm drunk. I'm loving Z's new take on 50's glamour. It's very well done and really suits her. I used to do 40's glamour but now i am moving into 70's punk mixed with 90's grunge.
Tired and emotional in bed.
Iron maiden t - Vintage '83
Big ben pendent - topshop
Ring - River island
nail varnish - barry M
Hippy - sitting in my living room with the new circle glasses on. I covered some colored ribbons with glittery xmas decorations and flowers which hang over the window to cheer it up. I love my flat. its such a hell hole of mixed genres....
Me and Z get my hair fixed. I have to dye my hair every 6 weeks otherwise I look, well, awful. I love this picture not because i look bad - and i really do - but because we are having such fun that it just jumps out.
ON THE BUS -
I painted my blue heart ring. Got so bored of it. Plus I'm not good with light colors. Black suits me better. please ignore the nail varnish as I didnt have time to fix it!!!
Fringed earrings - great. up until the point where you pick up your bag. pop it on your shoulders and get the fringes stuck and nearly pull it out of your ear. wonderful
Cross ring - topshop. I'm planning on working with the ring to make some fun stuff fairly soon.
Earrings - topshop
I bought this broken gold ring because i loved the shape of it. I knocked all the shite jewels out of it and popped some black paint on it. good as new.

Black Milk.com

Tis the day for stumbling onto new brands - This is the work of Black Milk. The creation of James Lillis. Selling jackets, bodies and leggings which simply caught my eye because they are stunning and different. I get so sick of seeing the same Topshop leggings and oasis jackets floating around. It's always so refreshing to see something online which fills me with the fashion lust! The printed bodies are amazing. Bodies are so easy to wear. I know they can be a little bit daunting given the fact that they are basically like swimwear. But having owned two in the past few months - I have to say I love that they are so easy to wear with skinny jeans and long cardigans. I heard that these bodies don't have poppers on the crotch - which would be great if they didnt. I have this insane idea for tights, boots, cardigans and bodies.....it might work.. then again....it may not!

The leotards retail about $60 - which is about 45ish Euro
The bodies are $75 - roughly 51 euro
Considering you'll own something no one else does in Ireland - its worth it.
Love these leggings. I can see them now with a long plain black t-shirt and amazing wedges! These are on my wish list for wearing with a long topshop unique backless t-shirt dress and fringed ankle boots and a black bowler hat - but thats just me!

but don't take my word for it - http://shop.blackmilkclothing.com/ - there is plenty more amazing leggings were these came from!

Basic-ally twisted.

Hurrah, Possibly because I am stuck on a bus blogging right now, comfort means a lot to me. I'm looking at basics items like the hoodie and the T-shirt and seeing new ways of styling them and wearing them . I stumbled onto Complex geometries. A company producing basic need to own items but with a twist.
If it's a hoodie with a really wide hood or a see through T-shirt you desire. Then you'll find it here. I have to break the bad news now. The clothing you see before you is from their A/W 10 look book. But, it's not available in Ireland or online.
The closest stockist to us is London. Groan. Still though, means a trip to Selfridges!
Do make sure to check out their amazing menswear collection as well. There are a lot of unisex pieces there which you could adapt to fit your own wardrobe!
Like this hoody. Which I love. And must own. Off to London I suppose!

MISS PENNY DREADFUL DIARIES : airport fashion

As the black -clad fashion sheep of my family I'm off to the UK (home) for a family wedding. Groan. But the interesting thing is. My terrified mother has been living in fear of the dress that I am wearing. Given my *ahem* interesting fashion choices in the past. Sequinned hot pants and facial netting anyone? anyway,
I've been toying with the idea of pissing everyone off by arriving at the airport (since i am meeting my family over there coming from different areas) in the highest heels and killer jacket I find.
then Gaga goes and finds me the perfect item for greeting my family at the airport.

A LEATHER STRAIGHT JACKET!

i have to. you realise I just have to. Oh to see my mother's face as I leap out of the airplane in that! (Or rather I slink out of it. I HATE airplane steps) She would kill me. But it would be worth it. Just to see the look on the face!!!!!
My poor mother. One day, I promise. I'll dress normally. I will shun my thigh high boots, ramones t-shirts, take out my piercings and somehow cover my tattoo. I will hang up my sequinned hot pants (in all 4 colors i own), step out of my 6 inch heels and retire my leather dresses....no more will i walk the streets of Dublin with my black bowler hat held high and my ipod blaring punk music.
I will watch Stephen Fry on the telly with a cup of tea wearing a nice jumper.
and flat shoes......they still make those right??????

So anyway, I'm off from Thursday for a few days. I will try to get as many posts done as possible but it's going to be awkward. I'm returning from the UK to go to Cork and then off again before coming back to Dublin. Could be awkward! So bear with the blog silence!
When I come back we can all have a look at the new photos and gossip from the BT2 shows as well.

See u on the flipside!

More american apparel news

Brown Thomas A/W 10 collection launch - Behind the scenes!

I was recently one of the lucky few to be invited to come and view the amazing new collection from Brown Thomas on Grafton street. It was an fantastic chance to view some of the best designer pieces ahead of their release into the store. (Not to mention a great chance to ogle some McQueen before noon) There is a full length piece in the older posts from this month which will tell you everything I saw and got up to! But, here are the as promised behind the scenes photographs from the day!
styyyyllllleeeee....
One of the many joys of being early for everything - getting a sneaky trawl around while no one else is there! The dolls all lined up ready. Showcasing some of the new season looks for A/W. BT corporate offices.  Swinging my handbag I had a lot to juggle, french lemonade in one hand, notebook and pen in the other while switching to my camera every 5 seconds! not easy while balancing on 6 inch heels and trying to look like it's all in a days work for you!
Normally I don't care much for menswear. (yawn) but, Check out how sharp those two outfits are???burberry trench looks amazing! Not to mention the man bag!
Glittering array of handbags left out for us to drool over. The tempting urge to lean over, pop one in the handbag and run like hell.......I think you'd get as far as the lifts before you were stopped. But for those five minutes!
Mulberry bags. A lot of sparkle and glitter. Mostly matt finish.
Alexander McQueen box clutch. Complete with skull fastener. Lust. I wish I had one of these to go with my dress for the wedding. Would have been perfect. The photos do not do the bag justice.

The Alexander McQueen ankle boots in the flesh.....In BT's specially designed shoe room. It's nice to see that the shoes were so important that they got their own room at the end of the hallway. There was some serious label lust going on in there! Prada, Gucci, McQueen to name a few. However it was awkward to see the collection as the camera crew were using it as a meeting point! The room was packed out! Still I got to touch the leather on the shoe.....Soft as butter...They also come in black as well but I am feeling all things camel right now!
Alexander McQueen mens sneakers. The ultimate sneaker.
The room prior to us taking over. Look how clean it looks. Then pack stylists, buyers, press, models, modelling agents, PR girls and DJs and a camera crew in there and watch how fast it gets dirty! Teacups and champagne flutes everywhere!!!!! Glistening black BT press info packs lined up ready to be written on, discarded, used as fans and generally abused! Mine was covered in my own form of fashion shorthand by the end of the morning!
More shots of the chairs! As is always the way with fashion events, no one wants to be the first to arrive! watching the merry dance of those trying to scope out which seat they wanted but not entering the room for fear of being the first was priceless! Still though with the catwalk designed the way it was. We all got amazing seats. The crowd get a glimpse at some of the pieces up close on the dolls and a look at how to style the new season collection. Designs from Prada, Stella Mccartney and others lined the walls. I was almost afraid to touch the gorgeous display of Mulberry bags hanging from the arms! I quickly got over my fear when I spied the beautiful display of McQueen clutch bags and got stuck in!
Tea and pastries! We also drank french lemonade and champagne. Although given that I had work to do, I had to stick to half a glass of bubbly and a lemonade. Sucks to be me huh?

so I will be posting all the pics from the BT2 show following my return from Cambridge. Stay tuned! watch this space! Same bat time, same bat channel........

OASIS : Lookbook a/w 2010

More lookbooks from the high street hit our email today! This time, Oasis and their new collection. I have a confession to make. I normally can't find anything in Oasis. I used to find their fit awkward and the clothing too girly. But I was surprised at how fashion forward this collection is.....
The furry jacket. This solves the problem of the white Zara coat in that, it's white.
capes.
plaid shirt/ cardigan / coat yoke.
1920's inspired cuts and jackets with fur.
VB style maxi dresses. A lot of the high street are doing floor length maxi dresses like this. Topshop and Miss Selfridge had some amazing designs as well.

Christopher Kane inspired embroidery
Velvet. As seen on Alexander Wang catwalks
This coat comes in red as well. but I'm loving the green. I love a good boxy coat for winter. I actually cant wait to dig out my black one....
The 1940s style suit.
The first decent camel coat I have seen on the high street to date! also, check out those leather panel leggings. nice!

what do we think?

The new Kurt Geiger store opens in London!

Kinda surprised about this, but the new KG store has opened in London. Covent Garden. Hurrah, the odd thing is : I thought they would have already had one by now? no apparently, this is the first one! the flagship due to open in the next week. But foe those of us in Ireland. We still have the shoe rooms in BT to visit for our daily KG and Carvela lust-fests......so feast your eyes on some of my picks from the new A/W collection.....
I imagine these would look pretty amazing with skinny jeans and a tee. Dressed down chic but still pretty stylish.

no one does platform like KG or Carvela. No one.
