Miss Selfridge Lookbook for A/W 2010. You know the drill......assume the position.....

A lot of maxi dresses in this collection. Its quite surprising though. I always associate MS with floaty boho grab I would never wear. But this is quite wearable as a collection and there are a few pieces in there I would totally do.....

This jacket is also a direct copy of the fur from Sex and the city. You know the one! The vintage one which Pat Field cropped up later in the series. Worth a mention for that alone.

A lot of 70's/80's inspired fabric choices and cuts. The body con velvet and see through back panel on this makes it '88-tastic.

Beware of velvet. As a fabric it can add inches which you don't have. I love this maxi though. Not sure I would have an occasion to wear it as I never go anywhere fancy enough for floor length black velvet. but, i'd like to dream.....

70's inspired.

textured maxi skirts. Again this is not a fabric to enter into lightly. Be warned that it can add a few too many inches!

LOVE the feathered bag. This i must own.

The other trouser shape for A/W. A loose fit.
It is easier to get than to keep it.......................................................................
ReplyDeleteI dunno, I think i could keep the fur coat for quite some time!
ReplyDeleteok what is the theme here? Is this called a collection? I don't know. I see one of two models wearing stuff with fake fur (or at least it looks like fake fur & velvet so.. is that something to be taking notice of? What does the velvet represent? (apart from 90s.. like, autumn? do people wear velevet for autumn?) Wha else is there that Im missing? And would this be similar stuff that Miss Selfridge noticed from popular designers??
ReplyDeletebits and bobs wud be from other designers. velvet is a safe bet for winter though. Alexander Wang showed velvet for this season. This is a highly 70's/80's inspired collection in the choice of fabric and cut. I'm not really a fan of the more boho stuff here. I find miss Selfridge caters to a younger audience then me. Some of their stuff can be quite tacky. But the stylist has been clever in that she's paired some of the weaker designs with some of the key pieces for this season. like the furs.
